Performance Evaluation of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Virtual Private Networks (VPN)

In today’s technology revolution and market competition, companies are required to build high performance network and reduce their cost for managing and building their networks. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) was developed to provide solutions for this predicament. VPN is expected to improve network utilization and works with different protocol layers such as layer 1, layer 2, and layer 3 (IPSec/MPLS). The Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) technologies are emerging to form the predominant framework for delivery of high performance VPN services. This MPLS based VPNs do not rely upon classic encapsulation and encryption schemes but upon smart forwarding and tagging of packets to isolate client traffic over ISP network and create secure communication channels. This project will focus on MPLS based VPNs implementations that will be carried out in widely acceptable network simulation.
